It used to be that when we thought of someone detoxing, usually it was about drug or alcohol abusers kicking their addictive habits, and the picture of heavy duty withdrawals came to mind. These days, detoxing encompasses a much bigger picture. As more of us pursue growth and expansion of body, mind and spirit, and work toward increasing our energies (prana) and deeper feeling of well-being, we realize how essential purifying our bodies of subtler toxins is to our overall physical well-being as well as to our mental, emotional and spiritual clarity.
By ‘subtler toxins’ I’m referring to any toxic substance that we ingest, intentionally or unintentionally, that has a side affect that might not be readily apparent initially. That glass of water you drink at your favorite restaurant probably has metal in it as does the air you breathe, and the food you eat. The oil and fat laden diet, even in moderation, as well as chemicals in meat and processed food all contribute to low energy as your body fights to rid itself of the subtle toxins, and eventually can result in tiredness, fatigue, skin dullness, weight gain and lack of mental clarity just to name a few common ailments.
Ok, now that some of the bad news has been discussed, here’s the good news. You can help your body effectively eliminate these toxins through a good detox program like the one being sponsored by ESY starting January 22nd. For me personally, the last time I detoxed my body, not only did I clear out the sludge and increase my physical and pranic energy, I also gained greater clarity in my meditations, and a profoundly higher connection to spirit. And it made me realize on a much deeper level just how interconnected it all is.
Our detox last for eight days, you will receive cleansing products, a recommended dietary plan including delicious recipes. For those integrating the yoga practice our hatha classes will facilitate the release with inner cleansing techniques. Register by Jan 16th and check ESY website for details.
